Skate Sharpening

Sid Broadbent has designed and patented a revolutionary method for preparing wheels to accurately deliver this precise sharpening. Mike has more experience with this system than any other skate technician. This type of sharpening can provide the skater with considerably more speed and flow than a conventional sharpening, while still providing the edge grip a serious skater requires. Boot Fitting

Proper fitting skate boots are critical to the performance and well being of a skater. They must be of adequate strength to support the difficult moves and jumps a skater attempts. At the same time, they must flex to allow the skater to bend at the knee, in order to control the edges and launch those jumps. A snug secure fit is required with the heel locked down and supported and the rest of the foot equally secure and in proper position. Toes should have some wiggle room vertically, but no excess horizontal space should exist on a correctly fit pair of boots. Click here for more information.

Customize Your Skates

Your skates can be made to look like no one elses. Stickers, designs, and glitter, in many colors, can be applied during the urethane sealing process.

Five to six coats of urethane are first applied. The soles and heels are then decorated, according to the skater's wishes. Thousands of stickers are on hand to choose from and at least 50 shades of glitter. The possible combinations are endless; no one personalizes skates like we do at Podium. The skater's name is also inscribed on the sole or heel under the urethane layers, making your skates truly one-of-a-kind! Click here for more information.

Blade Mounting

When the boots have been leveled and sealed, it is time to attach the blades to them. As long as the skater has been correctly aligned in the boot, meaning proper arch support has been achieved, the blades may be placed in a centered, neutral position. The skate technician needs to evaluate the whole bottom of the boot, as the skaters feet extend beyond the width of the boot sole. Click here for more information.
